Onion: Yes A Tearful Ingredient

One of the most extensively used ingredient in Indian cuisine whether it is vegetarian or non vegetarian without any doubt it is Onion, but from few days now onions becomes one of the most exclusively talk issue on every platform of the country because of its roof breaking price movement in retail and wholesale markets from few days time, which it normally sells during the month of December and January at around 10 to 12 Rupees per kilogram as its new crops starts hitting markets of the country, but this year in just less then week period prices of onion per kilogram in different markets of the country touches 60 to 80 rupees per kilogram, it not only spoil budget of every Indians but also disappear from the plates of more then half of Indians thus make their dishes tasteless as in one time around three hundred and fifty gram of onion goes in a dish. It makes every citizen of the country vocal against government mismanagement; now political parties find issue to get down on streets on the matter of onion’s high price. Question rises here what is the reason behind high price of onions in the country? Whatever reason may be but government cannot escape from the responsibilities of onions sharp price rise, as in the country only Food and Agriculture Minister and Group of Ministers of the country have information about exact position of government, had it been any shortage between demand and supply then instead of releasing statements and exposing government status before procuring required quantity, minister simply inviting international markets to raise the prices of specific commodities plus to hoarders and black marketers in the country to intensify their activities and create shortage, it mean minister is acting on behalf of handful persons instead of average common people of the country.
During the month of December and January new crops starts arriving in the markets across the country and prices remain at reasonable range but because of typhoon in southern India onions crop was damage and recently rainfall in Maharashtra and Rajasthan onions crops yield effected in the country, then action of government alerts the traders and hoarders-
  • Ban on export of onions till 15th of January next year.
  • Prices of onions will remain high for next three to four weeks in the country”, as per Food and Agriculture Minister Mr. Shared Pawar words, and he further adds that it is due to rainfall in the areas where onion produce.
  • Government import onions from Pakistan 35 trucks(a truck contains 20 tons of onion) through Bagha border just to reduce the shortage of onions from the country.
With the result of above movement relating to the onions commodities in the wholesale markets of the country’s capital it has seen twenty percent shortage of onion supply and demand falls, prices shoots of onion to 60 rupees per kilogram, but traders are positive that in few days time arrival of fresh crops will reduce the price. Considering this government agencies and Delhi government has taken the initiatives to relief public of Delhi, but it will help only three to four percent of the country rest will have feel the pinch of high prices’ –
  • National Agriculture Co-operative Marketing Federation of India (Nafed) step ahead to ease the pressure on public of onions rising prices by declaring of selling onions in Delhi at lot of places through stalls.
  • Chief Minister of Delhi said in a statement that government will do everything to control onions prices at average level.
Prime Minister Office(PMO) taking note of the statement of Food and Agriculture Minster and rise of onions prices’ double in days, order F&A ministry to do all the efforts for onions prices to remain under control and will monitor situation of onion prices in the country on daily basis.
Although Central Government has plan to prices of one of the widely used or essential commodities of Indian cuisine not to move further south end so that it may not become target of negative publicity of media and opposition party’s of the country, shocking part here is that producer of the crops (farmers) are selling to the traders at 15 to 20 rupees per kg but it’s the traders and black marketers which are earning huge profits. It is the government liabilities to take immediate action in this regards so that prices will come down instead of rumors prove true that it will touch 100 Rupees, like–
  • Ban on export of onions for long duration not for specific short period until and unless it not come down to a reasonable level in the country.
  • Government keep on raiding on to the premises of hoarders and black marketers and anybody found with buffer stock should slap with huge fine and even term of prison.
  • Minister should not allow to speak to media regarding position of stock in the country, moreover should take action and place orders in the international markets to strengthen the stock positioning the country.
  • Government agencies sell onions across country at reasonable rates.
  • Good to note government has scrap import duty from five percent to zero on onions.

Mysterious Indian Personalities

Almighty God’s best creation is human beings, despite its existence on to this earth from countless centuries and unbelievable research and discloser by scientists in every walk of life, still it appears that scientists have not achieve enough and scores of issue’s relating to human beings are in the hood of mystery and scientists need to remove darkness from it, other wise it will remain talk of assumptions. From time to time stories of persons make us to bite our fingers because of curiosity and there extraordinary talent leaves us to think if they are ordinary human beings or blessed with God’s gift or they are with power of supernatural. Sometimes kids do wonder at the age when there minds are not fully develop and without any guidance or education to develop the talent. Below are some examples which for average person are miracles –
  • Shakuntala Devi is a calculating prodigy who was born on November 4, 1939 in a Brahmin family in Bangalore, India. Her father worked in a "Brahmin circus" as a trapeze and tightrope performer, and later as a lion tamer and a human cannonball. Her calculating gifts first demonstrated themselves while she was doing card tricks with her father when she was three. They report she "beat" them by memorisation of cards rather than by sleight of hand. By age six she demonstrated her calculation and memorization abilities at the University of Mysore. At the age of eight she had success at Annamalai University by doing the same. Unlike many other calculating prodigies, for example Truman Henry Safford, her abilities did not wane in adulthood. In 1977 she extracted the 23rd root of a 201-digit number mentally. On June 18, 1980 she demonstrated the multiplication of two 13-digit numbers 7,686,369,774,870 x 2,465,099,745,779 picked at random by the Computer Department of Imperial College, London. She answered the question in 28 seconds. Her name also registered in the Guinness book of world records so what one can name the story of Shakuntala Devi? Certainly God Gifted.
  • Another person who hail from Chennai, Muttu Swami, he was with extra ordinary mind and at the age of twelve he got degree of graduation in Science discipline with distinction and at the age of 19 he did PhD, and when he completed study he get offers from other countries also but he prefer to remain in India and teach in his home town, he is one of the four children his parents have and other three are average children but despite getting same atmosphere and back up at the age when his age groups kids are studying in the higher secondary levels he becomes professor, so what we can name his talent/skill ?
  • Handi subdivision of Hissar district of Haryana state of India, Santram, aged 50 years, become talk of town, because his last twelve years was full of horrifying as during this time he was bite by snakes for more then seventy times, It all started when almost thirteen years ago he was bite by pregnant female snake, but with treatment he was saved by local doctors, but his unendable miseries started after that time as till date he was bitten by snakes seventy times, and as per his view perhaps it is the smell of pregnant female snake poison which attracts snakes and they bite him but only on to his hands and legs, to protect and avoid his relatives bite by snakes he prison himself inside the cage, and even because of him his one of daughter in law has left his house. All it make him bit frustrated and request scientists to free from snake biting miseries as it can be a subject of mysterious research for them. He said living like a normal person for me is a dream, so he has compromise with situation of biting by snakes. If a person bite by snake once or twice then he can’t be alive but once treatment by doctors to get out of danger from poison of pregnant snakes Santram recovered but he now carry with him mysterious smell of pregnant snakes which is reason of biting by snakes in the past twelve years almost seventy times is a subject of research.

Misuse of Section 164(4)

Public are supreme power in the democratic set up and they have fundamental right to elect there representatives at all levels of any country after specific time through their votes, so considering it political parties always try to woo public with social and pro public actions, but it has seen that often they supersede public mandate and do favour towards their leaders unconstitutionally or ignoring public verdict, scores of examples are available of these kind in the country at state and national politics in which particular person of ruling party become minister despite not being member of any house and then spend time of six months period ,as per constitution any person can become minister without being member of any house but after passing six months he can’t remain minister if he/she fails to become member of house and in that case he/she has to resign, courtesy section 164(4), but when he/she found that it is not possible to win election inside six months period then resign and make mockery of law.
Under section 164(4) of constitution political parties favour particular person or leader who despite not being member of any house become minister and then try to become member of house and if he/she found that its not possible to win election then resign from his/her post and can again become minister, this process keep on happening without any objection as per constitution. Below are examples of favour by different political parties towards their leaders –
  • Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand State Mr. Shibu Soren become Chief Minster of state without being member of assembly courtesy 164(4) for eight times and inside six months period he resigned as chief minister then again become Chief Minister, its mockery of constitution and thus spent full term as chief minister of state without being member of house.
  • Deputy Chief Minster of Punjab State Mr. Badal become two times deputy chief minister without being member of house, first time he was not succeed to win election and tender his resignation as deputy chief minister of state, but second time he won election, and now is deputy chief minister of state.
  • Present Chief Minister of Jharkhand state is again not the member of house but to remain chief minister of state he has to win election and become member of the house, other wise he can repeat the story of Mr. Shibu Soren in the state.
  • Present Prime Minster of the country at the time of taking charge of the nation was not member of any house but later on he become member of Rajya Sabha.
  • Information and Broadcast Minster Ambika Soni not fought election but after becoming Information and Broadcast minister she do the formalities through Rajya Sabha and become member of the house.
Considering this, Right to Information activist Mr. Dev Ashish Bhattacharya file writ in the Supreme Court to bar leaders for becoming ministers or chief ministers or prime ministers if he/she are not member of the house under section 164(4), which soon be handed over to the bench in coming days. He request to Supreme Court that it should end section 164(4) or amended in such a way that no political party or politician misuse it.Only elected person should allow to become minister or chief minister or prime minister. If public have no faith on to any leader than why he/she becomes minister for at least six months period. So it will be interesting to note what Supreme Court has its opinion on misuse of section 164(4) which right now is common tool of political parties to misuse power or favour anybody.

Mantra of Success : Hard Work, Challenge and Luck

In this world Human beings live with desire of hunger in every aspect of life and do there level best to appear different from others so that with their actions and activities people admire them. Some choose professions, some choose charities, some work for humanity and some donates money but ultimately their goal is to earn their name, around us score of area’s one can do wonder all it need is burning desire, hard work, goal in mind and of course luck also. In India recently lot of person rise and earn name from no where now they are highly respected and regarded. One of such name in this list is Indian cricket team captain Mahendar Singh Dhoni.
Before the entry of Mahendar Singh Dhoni into Indian Cricket Team, Indian Cricket Team was struggling badly in one of the most crucial part of game and looking desperately reliable wicket keeper, as it was trying in different versions of cricket with different ideas and wicket keepers but nothing was proving in favour of Indian cricket team, then M.S. Dhoni was pick as wicket keeper and his performance was not only behind the wickets was extra ordinary but also as batsman he was giving good performances in both the versions of game. Then comes the time when he accept challenge and name as captain of Indian cricket team in the inaugural world cup of T20 after Indian cricket team’s one of the worst performance in the World Cup of One Day International which was held in West Indies in which Indian cricket team oust in the preliminary round despite decorated with all the so called super stars, and BCCI over sight senior players for inaugural T20 world cup some opted to remain away from the new version of the game. Fan were angry from their heroes and they were skeptical on India’s performance in the absence of senior players, but with start of their matches India’s young gun performed out of their skin and surprise everybody as with their every match result, they make every prediction wrong and in the end become T20 champion, it was enough for cricket crazy country India to become fanatic for cricket and Dhoni become from player to star. Then later on senior player’s starts avoiding to become captain for other versions of cricket and was giving reason that they can’t focus on to their game along with captaincy but M.S. Dhoni keep on accepting every challenge that comes in his way by accepting captaincy of other version of cricket also and with his strategy and performance, have taken Indian cricket to a new level in all the three versions of game now India is number one test team from almost nine to tenth months, and in one day ranking it is second to third team depending on their series performance which keep on fluctuate.
All it help Dhoni not only to earn name but also huge money. He keep on increasing list of endorsement and at present have 22 brands that he is endorsing, just recently he struck 220 million rupees deal with Vijay Mallya’s U.B. Group which he will endorse during cricket world cup in the year 2011 going to held in subcontinent and also contract for seven years with max mobile at around 230 million rupees.
Brand Dhoni become well respective, reliable brand and corporate happily spending money on to it. It is because his hard work, guts to accept challenges’, strategy and luck which make Dhoni brand so much successful that Dhoni is earning money many folds from his profession so if somebody needs inspiration in today’s stiff competition era then they have no excuse as brand Dhoni easily can be role model of them.

Punjab & Power

Punjab State from past one and half decade struggling to meet with increasing demand of power, thus instead of increasing power generation choose the path of load shedding. Residents of Punjab experiencing this practice in summer season but because of big gap between demand and supply now even in winter season they have to live with power failure when demand dips to all time low during year. Despite assurances from Punjab government that they are expanding and erecting new power plants and coming years will make Punjab state as surplus of power and when the coming year will come Punjab residents are waiting anxiously in anticipation of history for load shedding.
In today’s era even to think of life without power is a cruel joke as human life is much more depend on power than ever. Not only score of business totally run on power but also in house kitchen devices, entertainment equipments and today’s necessity electronics instruments are power hungry, so as per requirement people install alternative of power like generators, invertors or solar systems but it is the hard fact that these devices increase their electricity costs almost to double as not only people have to spent money on these devices to run plus also pay the bills of electricity. Adding insult to injury Punjab government keep on increasing the power tariffs on an average six to eight months period without giving non stop power to the customers.
Question rises here what are the main cause that state government is unable to give power to the public, if it is short of money or there are some other reasons. Below are some points which are main reasons of power shortage in the state-
  • Government is giving subsidies to the weaker section of society, but in return not paying back the money to the electricity department thus department is bearing the cost on subsidy at its own and incurring losses.
  • Government is passing on free power to the farmers, as per its view farmers are feeding the country but because of increase in the input cost of agriculture now profits are shrinking, that is why farmers are looking other business, so to remain attach farmers with agriculture need assistance from government.
  • In the state people are constructing new houses’, new offices’, shopping malls and there power source is state electricity department, which despite shortage of generation of power and lack of strict law on every passing day burden is increasing on energy department.
  • In the villages its common practice of power thefts, power department should get more authority, strict law and heavy punishment to the customers who theft power, so that they think lot of time to use electricity illegally.
Until and unless new power plants start working below coded steps can be taken to minimise the load shedding-
  • All government offices, new houses’ built in Punjab must use CFL bulbs and failure of not using CFL bulbs should be punish heavily.
  • New construction should make it mandatory to have at least half of there power requirement generates through other then electricity department.
  • Government offices’ timings must be change in winter and summer season so that electricity can be save consume by them.
As now quietly from few days unscheduled and undeclared power cuts started and it is declared that state government is giving power back to the states from whom it has taken during summer season as it was taken on banking system, so until and unless new power plants not operational in the state people have to live with power cuts whether it is summer or winter.

Anger among Punjab Traders

Any Government’s main source of revenue is Tax and on periodically basis Government reforms tax structure for the benefit of public or its concern department, but sometime it not get positive response as other party feels victimise and Government is tightening the screw by putting extra intolerable burden which for them its not possible to bear. Recently Punjab State Government revise VAT structure, but Punjab state traders association find it anti business and they are now getting together for their next action against the VAT reforms, also call meeting in Ludhiana on 19th of December for their action as they found some steps of Government will put additional pressure on to the traders community of state.
Opposing Punjab State’s Taxation and Excise department initiatives Punjab state’s traders association is getting together and plan to get down on roads if their demands were hear with deaf ears and call meeting on 19th of this month at Ludhiana for their side of response to the state government. President of Punjab state traders association Mr. Amrit Lal Jain said that government has release notification on 8th of November, 2010 wide reference no. 30A8/2005,S-70 that if any commodities price falls then traders will not get VAT refund, he further adds that prices of any commodities or currencies are not fall or rise because of trading in Punjab state or Indian markets but it is directly related to international market and state traders are not responsible for there price falls. Taxation department should consider this and bureaucracy of state is misleading sate government and thus trying to spoil state’s trade, so he was vocal and want state government immediately focus on to traders demands otherwise for them path of agitation is open to bend government. Demands of traders are-
  • Commodities and currencies prices’ are not control by state traders or Indian market but its movements are based on international markets, then why state taxation department are putting burden of barring VAT refunds if price falls, so state’s traders should not slap with such recommendations and it need to be reconsider immediately by state government.
  • Taxation Commissioner Mr. A Benu Prasad said that in the state online trade started, but its not fair as ninety percent of state traders have not computer install at there premises, then how they will do work online plus scores of them are illiterate as far computer knowledge or operating is concern which are doing business in the state. Government should consider the problems of other party before implementing new law if it is good for them or not, otherwise they will be exploited and harass by government officials unnecessary.
  • Taxation department tighten the grip on transporter also by asking them to email to the department whenever they proceed from one place to another with goods, then they should inform the taxation and excise department through email, which is not possible, as in many fold tons of goods on daily basis moves.
If government won’t reconsider their initiatives then traders won’t mind to get down on roads to bend government. Mr. Amrit Lal Jain said that states trade is coming out from the recession phase but now bureaucracy is trying to snub with stiff norms. If government not accept their demands then for them no option left other then of agitation and on 19th of this month they are going to gather in Ludhiana.
Government collects revenue more then seventy percent from traders and industrialists and there genuine demands should be consider seriously instead imposing anything on to them like a dictatorship.

Harassment & Exploitation for German PR Applicants

Indians living and settled in German, when they merry to an Indian life partner and start process to call their spouse to German, it is such a tedious and full of unnecessary harassments that it give them feel of as if they did crime while marrying in India and exploited at every step by different persons, moreover if he/she is resident of Punjab or states situated on distance from New Delhi then it’s really frustrated task to submit application and verification of documents. It is because recently I was attached with a German resident who prepared documents to call his wife for permanent resident category.
Very first step to submit application in the embassy, it requires countless heavy bundle of documents which applicants has to submit along with application but prepare at its own (no doubt requirement form is available online at German Embassy site, but despite following every steps and not clear in nature applicants get objection at least three to four times minimum, and once any objection made then applicant has to get new appointment from its noida office then can visit. Embassy to submit application).Despite giving specific time to applicants for interview often not called inside on time. When applicants enters in the embassy then embassy officials not deal as a true guide liner instead often try to raise objection and reject the papers at least three to four times and there I not found any applicants who succeed to submit papers very first time, then applicant asked to come again after completing the formalities plus with fresh appointments. Lack of proper guideline and unnecessary objections by German embassy’s concerned officers (which are unfortunately Indians) often are baseless as below are two examples-
  • One applicant get two times objection because of ration card and it could be told to applicant to complete the formalities which they think are incomplete in nature, thus can save time, money and long journey period to New Delhi.
  • Another applicant get objection two times because of spouse passport photocopies, attender at embassy once asked to get the photocopy of spouse passport not told to come with all the pages but next time raise objection to come along with all the pages of spouse passport whether it is blank or have stamp.
Along with it German Embassy collects 15,000 Rupees from Delhi residents as verification fees and 20,000 Rupees from outside Delhi applicants and second step/formality turns into exploitation, when within set time of eight to ten weeks of verification of documents their authorise person who visit applicants mentioned address then instead of visiting different location for verification of different documents, concerned person seeks money from applicant which is as per speculations it is close to 10,000 to 15,000 rupees and if applicant handover the desire money then authorise person okay every document without going through the verification process but at the same time if applicants denies to give money then they get unnecessary , intolerable and hard time to convince the person that their documents are genuine and sometime gets response from embassy as deny of visa. Certainly Embassy has not such intention but Indian officials appointed at embassy creating problems for Indians.
It is the responsibilities and liabilities of the German Consulate in India to check and take care of formalities make for applicants which they go through should be genuine and proper way and applicants neither harass by their recruited employees nor create unnecessary problems for PR applicants. Problems face by applicants at the time of submitting application and get objection three to four times should get clear direction to come up with particular set of fulfillment of documents (if it possible then on the pattern of visitor visa they have VFS office at Chandigarh to collect and prepare documents) for PR applicants such offices’ should be open in every states to minimize the problems of PR applicants, plus once the application submitted at embassy then verification of documents process should be fair and for the benefits of applicants a complaint box or email id should be create which deals on priority basis of complaints, then it will make fear in the mind of corrupt officials of embassy, otherwise PR applicants will keep on grind in the mixer of corrupt officer and feel the heat of harassment and exploitation.
