History, Election Manifesto & Development

Recently concluded process of Punjab State Assembly elections, Shiromani Akali Dal along with its alliance partner Bhartiya Janta Party create history in the 46 years of state Assembly elections by wining second consecutive time with more then required numbers (59 seats) to form the government otherwise both parties (Shiromani Akali Dal and Indian National Congress)were getting chance to govern the state one by one after every polls. During the time of 1st term Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal on different platforms had said that we will govern the state for next two and half decades and they get down in elections with their work of developments which they did and first time it had seen religion issue was not Akali Dal’s agenda. Sukhbir Singh Badal during election  campaign had said that in coming one year or one and half years period Punjab state will become power surplus state, state public will have facilities of two International Airports and three Domestic Airports link, soon public will get internet facilities to access government services’, so as now they returns in power with 64 seats( SAD 44, BJP 12 seats) which have stamp of 78 percent eligible voters of state, so now time ahead for them is to complete the projects which were under progress plus need some more time to complete.
To woo voters ruling party/alliance comes with advertisements having detail of their achievements before the election code of conduct comes into force, plus ruling party and other parties release their election manifestos having populist schemes and offerings if they get next term to rule. This time SAD announced in their manifesto schemes which required as per rough estimates money worth 80 billion rupees, below coded were the main offerings in their manifesto -
  • Students of 11th and 12th standard will get free laptops.
  •  All girl students of above ninth standard will get free bicycles.
  • Unemployment allowance of rupees one thousand per month for unemployed.
  • Conversion of state public transport fleet into air condition.
  •  Cash incentives on the birth of girl child.
  • Free Gas connections to Below Poverty Line families.
  • Free 250 units of electricity per month to financially weak & schedule caste families of state.
  •  Plot of 5 marle for families which owe no land.
  •  Metro rail for Ludhiana city.
  • Will erect cancer hospitals one each in Majha, Doaba and Malwa region of state.
and to deliver all the above coded state government would need of 80 billion rupees and how it will arrange the money for implementing the promises it will be interesting to see but if one has to imagine the source of money then during elections time Sukhbir Singh Badal had said that they will invite private parties to invest in the state for projects.
Right now Punjab state is in the grip of massive debt as state is under 7,50 billion rupees debt and state is paying around 70 billion rupees amount per year as debt and interest.; to implement the recommendations of last pay commission seven billion rupees is yet to distribute to the government employees of the state; plus 20 billion rupees bills yet to clear, so in this scenario to bear additional financial burden state exchequer need free flow of money so that populist schemes do not hamper the pace of development projects of state. Coming time is tough for state government to meet the demands easily but with tough decision and private parties participation it’s not impossible, time ahead is full of challenges for the state government but its hard fact that true fighters remain victorious in tough environments. So very best of luck to SAD/BJP alliance.

Happy Holi

Today India is drawn in the festival of colour by name Holi, on this day groups (irrespective of age and sex) roams in the streets and colour every individual they see regardless they know him/her or not along with well known phrase, “Bhoora naa mano Holi Hai”. Traditionally People uses tools as colour like different shade of dry colours powder produce from chemicals, wet colours, balloons inflated with water or wet colours and of late few naughty stuff also becomes as tool of Holi festival viz eggs, paints, grease and inks. In some parts of country guys make beverage which is called ‘Sardayee’, the main ingredient in making Sardayee is Bhang(sort of intoxication) and after drinking it few guys behave differently under the wave of beverage, but folks its part of Holi festival, so instead of pin pointing towards any issue we should enjoy the spirit of Holi festival with great fervor and joy. Happy Holi to everybody.

Motor Vehicle Act gets Amendment Nod

Motor Vehicle Act is going to have tough norms in the coming days as it is believe that in the next session of parliament Motor Vehicle Act can be present for amendments which are strict in nature as monetary fine will get many fold jumps in all the categories if driver of the vehicles violate traffic rules. Cabinet stamps its approval on to the amendments of Motor Vehicle Act, so once it comes into force then driving the vehicles on Indian roads will be more cautious. As per stats vehicles plying on Indian roads are merely one percent of the world but contrast of it India has very high percentage on road accidents chart which is ten percent of the world, as per words of Doctor Kamaljeet Soi who is founder of N.G.O. by name Safe Community and Vice President of Punjab State Road Safety Council that every day four hundred peoples die in India due to road accidents, so considering these horrifying stats tough traffic rules is need of the time in the country.
On 1st March,2012 Prime Minister of India Doctor Manmohan Singh presided the cabinet meeting which was held in New Delhi, gave its nod to amend the Motor Vehicle Act and have proposed increase monetary fine from its present status in almost all the categories like fine of rupees fifteen hundred on jumping the red lights; not only monetary fine if driver find guilty of intoxication but can also put behind bars for four years and also strip off from his license; will be offense to use mobile while driving and at the time of death in road accidents kin will get compensation four time higher from its present level, below is brief glimpse of cabinet proposal on to Motor Vehicle Act –
  •  Talking on cell phone while driving the vehicles fine of minimum Rupees five hundred to maximum of Rupees five thousand.
  •  Compensation of Rupees One lakh to the family of victim in case if he/she died in road accidents.
  •  License of driver can be cancel, can send to jail for term of four years along with fine of minimum of rupees two thousand to maximum of rupees ten thousand, if driver drive the vehicles after drinking.
  •  Without helmet driving two wheelers or driving without seat belt fine will be Rupees five hundred to maximum fifteen hundred.
  •  Jumping the red lights fine will be fifteen hundred Rupees.
  •  Driving the vehicles without Registration Certificate can cost the driver fine of Rupees twenty thousand and along with it one year jail term also.
  •  Driving the vehicles under any type of drugs fine will be five thousand rupees.
No doubt these tough proposals once comes into force across country then it will make driver to drive the vehicles with more cautious but at the same time it is responsibilities of the concerned government authorities that there should not be any flaw in implementing new terms of Motor Vehicle Act and by no mean any genuine driver wont be harass on the name of law as well guilty driver should not escape due to any reference, other wise it will prove more powers to the concern enforcement department to grind public unnecessarily.

Two Miraculous Days

26th and 28th of February month were miraculous days as far Indian sports are concern, as on these two days Indian players played best games that can also be named as miraculous and their opponents lick the dust of massive defeats which inflate the chest with proud of Indian sports followers. On 26th February Indian hockey thrash France in the final by 8-1 and get entry into Men’s hockey event of London Olympics 2012, unfortunately first and only time in the history of Olympics which spread over eighty years unable to qualify in the Beijing Olympic 2008. On 28th February Indian cricket team won one of most exciting and unbelievable match in recent time as on that day India defeat Sri Lanka by seven wickets while chasing mountain of runs in record overs.
India had supremacy in the hockey sports since its inception & inclusion in the International tournaments, that’s why hockey is India’s national sport, but for Beijing Olympics 2008 Indian hockey team failed to qualify first time till date. This year from 18th February,2012 to 26th February, 2012 ‘Pool A’ qualifier held in New Delhi for London 2012 Olympics. In the final India beat France 8-1, thanks to five goals by Sandeep Singh and one each by Birender Lakra, Sunil Vitacherya and V.R. Ragunath. Below is Indian hockey team’s journey in the tournament –
  •  February 18th, 2012 ---India v/s Singapore---15 – 1
  •  February 19th, 2012---India v/s Italy---8 – 1
  •  February 21st, 2012----India V/s France---6-2
  •  February 22nd, 2012---India v/s Canada---3-2
  •  February 24th, 2012---India v/s Poland---4 – 2
  • February 26th, 2012---India v/s France---8 – 1
the way Indian hockey played in the tournament and if they get down with same pace in the coming Olympics London 2012, then it will be surprise if India won’t win medal in Olympics 2012, so all the best for Indian Hockey team to continue their best show till Olympics.
Indian Cricket Team after the pathetic debacle during the tour of England in which they lost all the International games without wining single match in any format of cricket viz Test Match, ODI and T20, presently Indian cricket team is in Australia and England story is continue in Australia as they have lost test match series 0-4, T20 stands 1-1 and before their last game of Australia tour was against Sri Lanka on 28th February( if they don’t qualify for Finals), they were pathetic, clueless, divided and scattered in almost all their games they played, so team India’s last match against Sri Lanka team India needed to defeat Sri Lanka with bonus point as then their standing in points table equal to Sri Lanka thus can hope for birth in the finals but along with it if Australia beat Sri Lanka in the last game. On 28th February until the Sri Lanka innings it appeared that team India is coming back to India after the game is over as Sri Lanka hit 320 for the lose of four wickets in their stipulated fifty overs, so not only India had to won the game but also chase it under forty overs to get bonus point, which was tough but not impossible, countless fans across country switch off their TV sets, but Indian batters surprise everybody especially Virat Kohli who was remain unbeaten on 133 and his innings contains sixteen fours and two sixes, below is scorecard of the match –

and I don’t think there is any need for guessing who was Man of the Match, certainly it was Virat Kohali.
Two days which belongs to Indian sports was simply due to two heroes in both the games by name Sandeep Singh five goals (Hockey) and Virat Kohli 133 not out having sixteen fours and two sixes’ with striking rate of 154.65(Cricket), hopefully not only both will continue their forms in the forthcoming games but they will also inspire their respective team members to lift their performances at higher levels.
