Differences in Alliance

In Punjab State from past almost one and half decades, Shiromini Akali Dal (SAD) and Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) are alliance partners and both parties had gone in elections together whether it is state assembly elections or Loksabha elections amicably, leaving space for each other partners, then support each other partners candidates in the elections with enthusiasm as if he/she is their party candidates, and try their level best for the victory. Thus this alliance enjoys two times governance and once in opposition.
Presently, this is the second time, alliance is in power, and they have entered fourth year of their rule, now both parties are desperate to woo their vote banks with populist scheme. It is believed that Shiromini Akali Dal has strong vote bank in the rural areas of states that is why from the time coming into power second times, it is giving incentives and bonus to the farmers through free power, and Bhartiya Janta Party has vote bank in the urban areas of the state’s of Punjab and they try to stand in favour, facilities and benefits of them, but it is seen that from gone by years of their rule, Shiromini Akali Dal is bias towards their vote bank at the expenses of its alliance partner, and giving benefit to rural population but putting burden on urban state’s consumers by increasing electricity tariffs and Value added Tax (VAT) surcharges. Previously BJP was not much vocal with these policies, but as time is coming near for party to go in for assembly election in state in less then two years time, they are now standing against one sided decisions of their partner as if they keep on accepting the anti urban policies silently it can make dent in their vote bank, so Bhartiya Janta Party appoints three members committee headed by Navjot Singh Sidhu and will have other members Manoranjan Kalia and Balramji Das Tandon, they will raise party’s point in front of Government which will be –
  • Punjab Government on the recommendation of the two members committee of Sukhbir Singh Badal and Manoranjan Kalia on to surcharge on VAT, which was accepted, but later, on had promised that surcharge will be spend on to the development of urban area, which still not spend on to the development of urban areas of the state.
  • State Government had also promised to adjust the increase electricity tariffs but till date it is not adjusted because Government has not issued notification till date and without notification process of adjusting the increased bill not begins, so committee will talk to state government.
It is seen that often alliance goes into elections together, Govern together but when time started coming near for elections then both partners become aggressive to get benefits for their vote bank, so that it help them to get next term also as the ruling party, but fight for their vote bank at fag end not always successful to get political party to win elections, now it will be interesting to see the result of committee, if it succeed to get the desire result for their party at the earliest or it goes in backburner of state government.

Electricity Woes

In the era of stiff competition, survival will be, which will produce not only products at less price but which will be better from competitors, so industrialists often look for innovative way to reduce their input costs, despite they are helpless to do anything which comes under the ambit of government and increasing their product cost, other then protest, pressure and reminder to the government with facts and data, sometimes they are able to convince the government and successful to bend the government to accept their demands, but if government shows rigidness in accepting their demands, then certainly in the environment of competition, looser will be government exchequer.
From past few years Punjab was under swear shortage of power crises or there was huge gap between demand and supply, but after 15th April ,2010 Punjab Government unbundled state electricity board into two corporation and after corporation improvement has seen in electricity, but still miles to go by corporation to give uninterrupted power supply to customers in all the conditions whether swear heat or shortfall of rain, which from years now it has become dream of Punjab government, electricity board and customers, despite all the problems and shortages of power, government never let any opportunity escape from their hands to generate revenue by increasing tax or tariffs, until first four years of their governance but the moment when they entered last year of their rule then they open populist schemes in anticipation of next term in office.
In this year’s budget of Punjab Government Finance minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal, increase duty on electricity from ten percent to thirteen percent, along with it consumers have to bear octroi of ten paisa per unit, which reaches at seventy paisa per unit additional cost of electricity. Although both categories of consumers domestic and industrial, its additional burden but for industrial consumers its hard to swallow the increase of input cost as they have to sell their products in the market which is possible only with cost effectiveness. Below is self explanatory chart, how much electricity duty/octroi is consumer absorbing on to per unit of different states -
  • Gujarat – 73 Paisey
  • Punjab – 70 Paisey
  • Rajasthan – 40 Paisey
  • Himachal Pradesh – 33 paisey
  • Maharashtra – 28 Paisey
  • Uttrakhand – 25 Paisey
  • Delhi – 22 Paisey
  • Karnataka – 22 Paisey
  • Madhya Pradesh – 17 Paisey
  • Haryana – 15 Paisey
  • Utter Pradesh – 09 Paisey
above chart shows that Punjab is second most highest state as far electricity duty/octroi is concern after Gujarat state, but as per news its not pinch to Gujarat state residents as they are getting twenty four hours power but as far Punjab state is concern uninterrupted power is a dream for Punjab Government, electricity board and consumers for years now, then why electricity duty/octroi is so high even finance minister of Punjab has no answer.
In today’s environment electricity become necessity as in modern age not only business, industries are depend on electricity but domestic appliance needs power to run, without it one cannot imagine life without power, so government should consider the demand of industrialists seriously because electricity duty/octroi is increasing their product cost and making their existence tough.

Impossible or I M POSSIBLE: Up To You

God has given mind to human beings, which makes them superior from all the living beings, and if it is utilize with focus one can do amazing things, which not only surprise others but also become reason to bite their fingers, It’s example are scattered around us. Mind is such a powerful organ in human body that if it is intact in the body then without the help of any other part can create wonders but at the same time if all the body parts are fully operational but mind is not working then in medical terms person is called mentally retarded and his/her life is worthless as he/she always need help of others and he/she depended on others to move towards any direction even single step. Around us everything created, innovative and produce by human beings are courtesy tiny but supreme part of our body that is mind.
Often we use to listen from people blaming God or their bad luck like God has given nothing to him/her or whenever he/she do anything, it resulted in negative, but instead they should consider their approach towards task as there is saying –
  • Whether you believe you can do something or you believe you cannot you are right.
  • The mind is in its place and in itself makes heaven of hell, a hell of heaven.
because if we made mind I cannot do this or it is impossible or I will be failure, then mind respond in such a manner that it resulted in exactly the failure. Words like failure, impossible are found in the lexicon of negative and pessimist minds as even if we read or focus on the below mentioned words it speaks opposite but only for positive minds as pessimist will find only negative side of it –
Impossible   or   I  M  Possible   up  to  you
below are two inspiring and real stories which happened in the past and for average people it’s a miracle or amazing but with devotion and hard work they can create wonders –
  • Rajesh Pillai, Physically challenged , as he lost his both the hands in an accident when he was child, then after loosing his hands he started begging and along with it he use to smoke with his foot’s fingers. One day at the Shivaji Terminal he was begging and also smoking, the words expressed by N.G.O. members changed his life the words were, “If You can smoke from the fingers of your foot then certainly you can use pen with these fingers also.” These words become motivation in the life of Rajesh Pillai and after the treatment from rehabilitation centre, he left smoking. Then he started studying, with practice he started writing from his foot’s fingers. This year in the month of February, Maharashtra States’ Tenth Examination, despite he was offered by school a writer, but he deny it and gave exams with his foot’s fingers and got 71 % marks which is a miracle and motivation for others.
  • Sometimes back a kid, hails from backward state of India Jharkhand, deep interior, aged around eleven, reside in the area where more then eighty percent are illiterate and even he was student of such a school where after middle English language starts, surprise everybody of his village when he started speaking English with American accent, it become big news for channels and they started covering his story with their opinion like rebirth of American citizen, some type of shock has taken him to his past life etc. etc., and after one week times mystery cleared as he break his silence and tell the truth on camera that he like English with American accent, I don’t know how and when it become passion in me to speak in American accent and then just three months back he purchased movies from the market having American style, after watching these movies with full concentration and with practice I can now speaking English like an American.
Above coded two stories of two Indian youth, tells that if we make mind to do anything, then anything can be achieved, but necessity is, it needs determination, hard work and positive approach towards the goal then –
                    Impossible  is  I  M  Possible

Dictatorship of Political Parties

India is a Democratic Country, we have right of freedom of speech and action, but it is seen that political parties of the country often crosses their limits and enter in public domain by force and dictate their terms, issue threats and warnings to their target, pressurise to apologise from their leader, announced otherwise ready to face dire consequences’. Opposition parties try to run parallel government, its example is Maharashtra state’s regional party Shiv Sena, which often warn, who so ever speak against the ideology of the party or against their supremo, and party workers agitate until and unless concerned not seek apology. Perhaps inspiring from his uncle, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, is a Maharashtra based regional political party, It was founded on the March 9, 2006 in Mumbai by Raj Thackeray after he left the Shiv Sena due to differences with Uddhav Thackeray and sidelining him in major decisions like distribution of election tickets, but works on same ideology as of Shiv Sena, and he keep on issuing warning to individual, groups and celebrities. In the recent past, below coded are some of his parties well known protests –
  • When Karan Johar ready to release his film “Wake Up Sid”, it trap in the controversy simply because he uses Bombay in his film instead of Mumbai, and MNS party protest of this, Karan Johar visited his residence personally and seek apology, then he was able to release his film.
  • Sometimes back people of Bihar, which migrate to Mumbai and settle their, oppose by MNS and declared that government jobs in Maharashtra should be given to local on priority basis not persons which migrate from other state to Maharashtra.
  • MNS opposes Cab drivers of different states to drive the cab in Mumbai which as per his views taking the opportunity away from local Marathi’s and party had protested against this and taking leaf out from the books of MNS, Maharashtra state government declared that cab driver will get permission to drive the cab if he is staying in Maharashtra for ten years and also know the Marathi language. Other state residents protest against it, as it will take away their work.
In the lok Sabha both party have below coded representation –
  • Shiv Sena - 11 seats
  • Maharashtra Navnirman Sena – 0
and both parties have representation in Vidhan Sabha
  • Shiv Sena – 44 seats
  • MNS – 13 seats
Perhaps just to get mileage and remain in news both parties are desperate, and often choose the undemocratic ways to protest and warning , perhaps they think this way they will get place in the hearts and minds of local and it will boost and convert it into votes. Just last year NCP and Indian National Combine won third time in row assembly elections, so they should understand instead of getting any advantage on political grounds they are going backward.
When 26/11 happened in the year 2008 Indian authorities reduce Pakistani Nationals appearances’ to zero because in the country among people there was anger against Pakistan and that’s why authorities consider to halt their participation for a while, like –
  • Bilateral ties of Cricket Matches stop
  • Franchises of IPL avoid to bid for Pakistani Players
  • Artists who were in India sent back to Pakistan
Sony Television Channel making comedy show from years and in the beginning it had Pakistani comedian also but after 26/11, Sony also sent back artists to Pakistan, but now Sony channel again included Pakistani comedian Shakeel, seeing the entry of Shakeel, MNS get issue to protest, and threat channel to avoid inclusion of Pakistani artists. No doubt every Indian is angry and against the hatred activities of Pakistani establishments whether it is terrorism, influx of fake currency or Kargil, but common citizen of both countries cannot be blame for this and they should not grind in the hatred atmosphere, as they are not part and art of government activities. Artists should be allowed to perform freely their art and political parties should eschew to make it political issue and try to get mileage.

Financial Burden on Amarnath & Vaishno Devi Pilgrimage

Every year in the month of July, Amarnath yatra begins; not only Hindus but other religion devotees also take part in this religious congregation with lot of joy and fervour. This year Pilgrimage will begins on 1st July and ends on 24 August. Amarnath yatra related to lord Shiva. Inside the main Amarnath cave lays an ice stalagmite resembling the Shiva Linga, which waxes during May to August and gradually wanes thereafter. This lingam is said to grow and shrink with the phases of the moon, reaching its height during the summer festival. According to Hindu mythology, this is the cave where Shiva explained the secret of life and eternity to his divine consort Parvati. There are two other ice formations representing Parvati and Shiva's son, Ganesha. One of the holy trinity, Shiva is a living god. The most sacred and most ancient book of India, the Rig Veda evokes his presence in its hymns, Vedic Myths, rituals and even testifies to his existence from the dawn of time.Amarnath legend is as follow  –
  • This is the Cave which was chosen by Bhole Shankar for narrating the secrets of immortality and creation of Universe to Maa Parvati. The story goes like this. Centuries ago Maa Parvati asked Lord Shiv to let her know why and when he started wearing the beads of heads (Mund Mala). Bhole Shankar replied when ever you are born I add one more head in my beads. Ma Parvati said," My Lord, my body is destroyed every time and I die again and again, but you are immortal. Please let me know the secret of this." Bhole Shankar replied that it is due to Amar Katha." Maa Parvati insisted that she may be told that secret. For long Shiva ji continued postponing. Finally on consistent demand from Maa Parvati He made up his mind to tell the immortal secret. He started for lonely place where no living being could listen it. He chooses Amarnath Cave. In preparation to that He left his Nandi (Bull which he used to ride) at Pahalgam (Bail gaon). At Chandanwari He released Moon from his hairs (Jataon). At the banks of Lake Sheshnag He released the snakes. He decided to leave his Son Ganesha at Mahagunas Parvat (Mahaganesh Hill). At Panjtarni, Shivji left the Five Elements behind (Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Sky) which make living being. He is the Lord of these elements. It is believed that as a symbol of sacrificing the earthly world, Shiva and Maa Parvati had Tandav Dance. After leaving behind all these, Bhole Shankar enters the Holy Amarnath Cave along with Maa Parvati. Lord Shiva takes his Samadhi on the Deer Skin and concentrate. To ensure that no living being is able to hear the Immortal Tale, He created Rudra named Kalagni and ordered him to spread fire to eliminate every living thing in and around the Holy Cave. After this He started narrating the secret of immortality to Maa Parvati, but as a matter of chance one egg which was lying beneath the deer skin remained protected. It is believed to be non living and more over it was protected by Shiva Parvati Asan (Bed). The pair of pigeons which were born out of this egg became immortal having listened the secret of immortality (Amar Katha). Many pilgrims report seeing the pair of pigeons when they trek the arduous route to pay their obeisance before the Ice-Lingam (the phallic symbol of Shiva).

This year State government took decision to increase the entry tax on the vehicles, According to a notification issued by the state government under Jammu and Kashmir Motor Vehicle Taxation Act, 1957, Rupees 2,000 for first three days and then 2,000 Rupees per day for the pilgrimage of Mata Vaishno Devi and for Amarnath yatra the rates are Rupees 2,000 for first seven days then Rs 2000 per day. No doubt it will generate huge revenue to state government, as last year, as per figures available,400,000 devotees visited Amarnath Caves and as per rough estimates millions of devotees visits ever year to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, but increase in entry tax will make pilgrimage costly. State Government in place of giving incentives to pilgrimage of these two holy Hindus places instead they make journey dearer.

Counterfeit Currency

From past five to six years, in the country flow of counterfeit currency is increase quite a lot, some government offices’ have install machine to track the duplicate notes but still lot of government offices’ and private offices’ are without the counterfeit notes checking machine, thus they become soft targets of persons involve in the trade and some become part of it without knowing that they are carrying with them counterfeit currency because of lack of any device at their disposable, and this way counterfeit currency changing hands from one person to another until it not reach at the point where machine install for fake currency notes, certainly lack of control or dedicated department to check the fake notes, it is adding negative effect on Indian economy. Government should consider on priority basis to deal with counterfeit currency.
From gone by Five to six years Pakistan, add one more tactics, to create problem for India .They started sending duplicate notes to India through different channels of 500 denomination and 1000 denomination notes, and persons responsible for influx of duplicate notes into Indian markets are –
  • Travelers
  • Agents in the disguise of tourists
  • Through Nepal, Punjab and Bangladesh border by their associates
  • Hawala rackets
  • Needy persons
  • Some local Indians who under greediness ready to circulate fake currency in the India markets
On an average, once a week there is news related to recovery of counterfeit currency and along with it arrest of its agents or person, which carrying these notes to use in the market.
It is not that only mischievous elements are pushing duplicate notes in the market, but sometimes in the past, news was published of duplicate notes from the A.T.M. of the P.S.U. bank in Maharashtra, which upset A.T.M. users, because if duplicate notes comes out from A.T.M. transaction it means duplicate notes were put in A.T.M. after the nod and information to the top officials of the concerned bank and which was did intentionally. After the news broke up of fake currency notes in A.T.M., then there was lot of uproar in the country and fingers points towards the authenticity of A.T.M. transactions. Problem for common Indians is that when they goes to banks to deposit money, then banks employees accept money, only after they satisfied that notes are genuine, courtesy fake currency detector machine install at their premises, but common people collect money from banks and counts the numbers and put them in their pockets, without testing/checking if they are original or fake, due to lack of access to the machine.
As per government sources’, Passport Office of Jalandhar, now a days facing problem of counterfeit notes, concerned employee of department who sit on cash counter of Passport office of Jalandhar, reveals that as there is no fake currency checking machine install, thus they are getting from past few months fake currency notes of 500 and 1000 denominations from the applicants. Now until and unless Central Government not appoint Regional Passport Officer, department has to look some innovative way to tackle the problem as to install machine decision can be taken by only Regional Passport Officer. So at the time of taking form and fees they mark the notes numbers on to the applicant’s application in the presence of the applicant, thus it can’t be challenge of any discrepancy.
To avoid free flow of counterfeit currency notes in the market government should make it mandatory to install counterfeit currency checker machines at public and important places, which allow common or any people to check their notes like –
  • Banks
  • Bus Stands
  • Railway Stations
  • Hospitals
  • Educational institutions
  • Theaters and Multiplex
may be they allow very nominal fees for using machines so that they get back money invested on Machines; so that innocent people should not be blame part of wrong practice and holder of duplicate notes won’t be succeed to use it. Biggest reason of free flow of counterfeit currency in the market is shortage and not access to the currency checker machine, which detects fake notes in jiffy, which human takes lot of time.

Irregularities in Service

Schemes started by Government, whether it is by central government or by state government, lack of follow up by the concerned authorities, often become part of irregularities, harassment and exploitation of common citizen, which instead of giving advantage, comfort to user it starts pinching them. Government after launching any service for the welfare of common people, not follow up if the service/schemes properly functioning or not or concerned department employees are misusing it by exploiting it for personnel benefits, due to absence or check up from senior officials of his department make him uncontrollable, and shocking part is that complaint lodge by common people often listen with deaf ears.
In Punjab state, youth is crazy for foreign countries and they always opt other country to work, as it is in their mindsets that if they want to lift themselves economically then foreign country is best place, youth of Punjab is so much attracted towards other countries that they can go up to any extent to be there whether legal or illegal and they are ready to pay hefty money to the travel agents, so that they must reach any foreign country, but going abroad illegally is full of risk and sometimes they lost their lives also, so Punjab being four hundred kilometers away from New Delhi Airport, it takes roughly seven to ten hours depending upon traffic and three hundred to four hundred rupees if person travel by cab, but if travel by bus then journey time increases and also tired the passenger badly, so considering this Punjab Government launch recently two dedicated bus services’ from Jalandhar and Amritsar to New Delhi Airport luxury Buses,’ once a day from both destinations. The detail is as follow –
FromTimeToTimeFare in RupeesBus Service
Jalandhar11.00 a.m.New Delhi Airport7.00 p.m.575Volvo
New Delhi Airport2.00 a.m.Jalandhar10.00 a.m.575Volvo
Amritsar10.00 a.m.New Delhi Airport9.00 p.m.Not AvailableSuper Integral A.C. Bus
New Delhi Airport4.00 a.m.Amritsar2.00 p.m.Not AvailableSuper Integral A.C. Bus

Considering this service it was believe that this service will help to mediocre and single person to reach their destination with ease and in less rupees if we compare it to with private bus operators and also without changing buses again and again to reach their destinations, but as far reports are pouring in, instead of giving relief to the commuters it started becoming source of exploration by the conductors, when buses proceed from New Delhi then conductors not only charges more money from the passengers but also not hand over tickets to them. This way not only he exploits the passengers but also skip to deposit full money to its station, but also passing on lose to the revenue of government. As per government, fare is 575 rupees per head, but conductor charge two hundred rupees more without giving tickets .Some passenger also complaints that their reserve seats were allotted to other passengers after taking more money from them.
So considering the grievances of passengers, bus service begins from Delhi Airport to Jalandhar or Amritsar, then conductor harass passengers, Government do check randomly these buses and if they found the complaints of passengers are correct then take stiff action against the culprit, so that buses plying to give relief to the common people should prove the purpose, otherwise it will lose its shine and interest from the heart and mind of travelers, before it become preferred and favourite service of economical and single person.

Cricket and Corruption

Indian are crazy for the game of Cricket, whether Indian cricket team play in India or any part of the globe they back up their team with huge presence in the stadium plus more then many folds glue to the television sets until the finish of game. That is why companies in the environment of stiff competition use this opportunity to promote their products, so cricket game in India becomes money spinner to everybody which associates with the game like broadcaster, BCCI, Players and they get very high level of hospitalities, Perhaps watching the money in the game of cricket earn by cricketers not only from game but also becoming brand ambassador’s of some companies, kids wants to become cricketers and earn name and money for themselves.
1984 was the year, India won the world cup of cricket, held in England, under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, but India’s poor past record in the cricket’s One day format, before the start of world cup, cricket world cup not get much attention of the Indians, but with the progress of the tournament and India’s out of the skin performance attracts Indians, and during the tournament India beat one of the invincible team of that time West Indies and after the end of tournament Indian lift the world cup and surprise everybody with their performance and they prove the dark horse team of the tournament, then game of cricket become passion among Indians, whether Indian cricket team perform up to their potential or lose, everything related to game covered by media with hype and after the gap of half a decade, India lift the world cup, game of cricket crosses all the limits and left behind every sports as far popularity of the game is concern and become without any doubt unofficial sport of India.
Cricket becomes magnet for bad elements also and they found cricket to earn hefty money in a jiffy, and they become part of cricket indirectly through nexus with set of cricketers of a team and then started fixing the matches. Suddenly words like betting, match fixing, bookies, punters jumps in the air with the game of cricket and now they are part and parcel of the cricket. Cricket was famous for synonymous name of gentleman game suddenly greediness of cricketers gave bad name to the cricket. It is not that every cricketer of the world is involved in match fixing but very few names taint the cricket. Till date names drags in the controversies of unfair side of the game are -
  • Hansie Cronje South Africa
  • Saleem Malik (Pakistan)
  • Mohammed Azharuddin India
  • Ajay Jadeja (India).
  • Herschelle Gibbs South Africa
  • Nicky Boje South Africa
  • Mark Waugh Australia
  • Shane Warne Australia
as it was not enough fingers started raising towards administrators also. BCCI backed Indian Premier League (IPL) which launched in the year 2008 when its first edition was played among eight teams –
  • Mumbai Indians
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore
  • Deccan Chargers
  • Chennai Super Kings
  • Delhi Daredevils
  • Kings XI Punjab
  • Kolkata Knight Riders
  • Rajasthan Royals
which was decorated with best players of cricket playing nations of the world, after franchises bid for them, actually whole concept was based on EPL of football, and in its first season it break all the records of popularity and just this year its third edition was held, as per reports it is second most game of the world money wise, but before it ends lot of administrators, franchisees engulf in the controversy, simultaneously games and controversy move ahead having hands in hands. Names like IPL Chairman and C.E.O. Mr. Lalit Modi, Shashi Tharoor, Praful Patel and Sharad Pawar on daily basis they become part of media’s new revelation, in between of season three of IPL Tharoor resigns and at the end of season three of IPL Mr. Lalit Modi sacked from Chairman and C.E.O. post of IPL, but still till date new controversies are keep on hitting and becoming headlines of media.
It makes confuse and surprise Indian that what makes cricket so much popular among Indians despite it carries with it so much controversies. Money involve in the game, or game of cricket or life style of the cricketers.

Punjab v/s Haryana

Countries like India which is divided into states, and ruling party in concerned state has their own policies, tax structure, but differences in tax structure between two adjoining states not only become the reason for loss of sale to its traders but also collection of less revenue in the government coffer, which contributed by moving vehicles, bus, truck, private vehicles and against the difference in the tax slabs voices raised by concern dealer and demand for the level playing field so that they also deposited money as taxes more then other states which hampered by the tax differences.
Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana are three states where because of difference in tax structure always attracts lot of categories of customers purchase things smartly. Price of diesel is cheaper in Punjab from Himachal Pradesh and its costlier from Haryana, and price of petrol is costly from Himachal Pradesh and Haryana and dealers of petrol pumps always complaints and try to get focus of tax differences which they unable to convince customers why they purchase petroleum products from them plus why their prices are higher as compare to adjourning state, even as per information cities near to other states badly under effect of high prices as their sale is much low as compare to petrol pumps which are at distance from near by state. Punjab is far ahead as far vehicle sales is concern then from Haryana in both the categories that is two wheelers and four wheelers, but when it comes to the sale of petroleum products then in Punjab state petrol is six rupees dearer from Haryana and diesel is also costly from Haryana and being on highway and people who travel from Punjab to Delhi, they opt to fill the petrol and diesel from Haryana state petrol pumps and they are below coded categories of customers, which prefer Haryana ahead of Punjab –
  • Trucks
  • Buses
  • Private Vehicles
  • Tour operators
  • Commercial Vehicles
  • Adjoining areas service categories vehicle owners
  • Two wheelers owners
  • Three Wheelers
not only Himachal Pradesh and Haryana States Petrol pumps dealers getting advantages plus they make less price their selling points by writing on walls with bold letters diesel Petrol are cheaper from Punjab. Recently in a press statement, Punjab Petroleum dealers association President Mr. J.P. Khanna said that Punjab state is getting 25 billion rupees revenue on to the sale of petroleum products as tax but Haryana state is getting revenue on to the sale of petroleum products 30 billion rupees per year. Its main and only reason is higher taxes in Punjab, Mr. Khanna adds with confidence that if Punjab Government reduce the tax on to petroleum products equivalents to Haryana and Himachal then Punjab can earn more then 30 billion rupees, even Punjab is the only state which has octroi on petroleum products and government had promise with the public and petroleum dealers that after implementing surcharge government will end the octroi, but despite imposing surcharge on petroleum products octroi is not removed, How much this is fair for petrol pump dealers to exist in the environment where customers have access to cheaper products with same quality, that’s why a quote is famous among petrol pump dealers –
Vehicles sold more in Punjab but Petroleum products of Haryana
Punjab Government has to look seriously on to the genuine demand of Petrol Pump dealers so that it will help them also to garner more revenue from petroleum products.

Miracle in Punjab State

15th April, 2010, was the day for Punjab Government to decide whether they want further extension to dismantle Punjab State Electricity Board (P.S.E.B.), which they got 14 times since bill passed on 2003 or break the board and make two corporation, lot of speculation was on the air that Punjab Government will seek extension as it want to avoid to face confrontation with employees and farmers as harvesting season was ahead, but day before yesterday of 15th April, that is 13th April Punjab Government took decision to dismantle Punjab State Electricity Board into two corporations instead of three and they are –
  • Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (Powercom) – will look for power generation in the State.
  • Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (Transco) – will look for power transmission in the State.
with the inception of two corporation, along with it Punjab Government took tough steps to face the opposition from employees and farmers, but after strike of two days by employees, they return to work after getting assurance from state government that no employees of erstwhile PSEB would be retrench plus their benefits will be continue as before they were getting at the time of Punjab State Electricity Board.
People were skeptical that any miracle will happen with this action in Punjab State as far electricity supply is concern, which was under huge power shortage not only in summer season but also in the winter season when demand of power dip to its lowest levels, but this winter they pass the time with four to five hours load shredding, but after 15th April 2010, with every passing days people find winds of change as far electricity supply is concern, and even when mercury cross the mark of 40 and 45 degree Celsius in the months of April and May respectively, but supply of electricity throughout day touches 20 to twenty one hours, and if we compare it with last year same period then temperature was around same in May but less in April months and power cuts in the state was 16 to 18 hours and neither board nor public was sure when power will come? What was the schedule of power supply? Everything was haywire and out of control of Board.
Mid May Punjab State Electricity Regulation Commission announced new power tariffs, along with it they also included farmers to pay the electricity bills which they were getting free of cost from years plus some section of society which was getting 200 units free per months, their free units reduce from two hundred to one hundred.
Now we are in the peak months of summer and mercury touches 49 degree Celsius but Punjab State Power Corporation declares end of load shredding and after 10th of June they will also end on to the industrial sector, which in recent time was a dream, so it is really a very good news for the Punjab industry which was legging behind in the environment of competition from other states because of increase input cost and Punjab state was on back foot of economy, which was once top in the country..
The biggest surprise is that how power corporation was able to supply power without increasing power generation and declaring that they have surplus power in the month of peak of summer, when with same sources erstwhile Punjab State Electricity Board was unable to meet the demand of power even in the last two winter season. What is the secret and magic behind it, only erstwhile PSEB and Punjab State Power Corporation Limited officials can answer exactly.

Bhopal Gas Tragedy: Justice Delay means Justice Deny

On 3rd December, 1984, around 1.00 a.m., world’s biggest industrial disaster happened in Bhopal, when at Union Carbide India Limited (U.C.I.L.) plant, which was subsidiary of the U.S. Company Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) America, Methyl Isocyanate (MIC) gas leak, more then 15,000 people died and effect on to the health of another half a million people.
Warren Anderson Chairman and CEO of U.C.I.L. at that time, arrested by Madya Pradesh police but later on release on bail, then he flee India, in spite of court issue summons, again and again but Warren Anderson not appeared in the court, court issued non bail able warrant against him and order Indian Government to extradite W. Anderson from America, but demand of extradite of W. Anderson was rejected by America.
After almost twenty five years, 7th June, 2010 was the day for announcement of punishment to accused, by Justice Mohan P. Tiwari (C.J.M.) Bhopal, and he declared guilty one day before below coded -
  • Former President Keshav Mahindera U.C.I.L.

  • Vice President Kishor Kamdar
  • Works Manager J. Mukund
  • Production Manager S.P. Chaudhery
  • Plant Superintendent K.V. Shetty
  • Production In charge S.I. Kureshi
  • U.C.I.L. Kolkata
but there was no mention of Warren Anderson. Main accused, under different section of Indian Penal Court, Honorable Judge gave his verdict –
  • Under Section 336 – Three months jail and Rupees 2,50 fine

All the punishment will start simultaneously, plus Court also slap 5, 00,000 Rupees fine to U.C.I.L. Kolkata. Later on accused released on personal bond of 25,000 Rupees and they get thirty days to appeal in higher Court.
While reacting on to the verdict, Union Carbide said neither they are nor their officials are under the rights of Indian Courts, because they are not involve in the running of plant, which was own and run by U.C.I.L. Law Minister Mr. Moodbidri Veerappa Moily said,“ This is such a issue, in which justice is delay and also justice not deliver”, I shall say that Justice is buried. Newly appointed president of National Human Right Commission, Justice K.G. Bal Krishnan agreed on this issue that justice comes after long delay on Bhopal Gas Tragedy. Victims and relatives of tragedy were furious with the punishment to the accused, as they were unanimous that accused should be hanged, and below coded lines appropriates here –
                                    Justice   delay   is   Justice   deny
Underneath are series of major developments related to Bhopal Gas Tragedy –
  • 1984 – Case registered against U.C.I.L., and then Chairman and C.E.O. Warren Anderson arrested by Madya Pradesh Police, later on release on bail.

EGoM Meeting

On 7th June, 2010, in the afternoon, under the chairmanship of Union Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, empowered group of Minister’s (EGoM) meeting held to discuss on the recommendations of Kirit Parekh committee, and it was hoping that if proposal of Kirit Parekh committee accepted then prices’ of petrol, diesel and liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) bound to shoot somewhere approximately 3 to 5 rupees of Petrol, 3 to 5 rupees of Diesel and 20 to 50 rupees of LPG. EGoM constitutes of -
  • Mr. Pranab Mukherjee – Union Finance Minister
  • Mamta Benerjee – Union Railway Minister
  • Mr. Sharad Pawar – Union food and Agriculture Minister
  • Mr. M.K. Alagiri – Union Chemical and Fertilizer Minister
  • Mr. Kamalnath – Union Transport Minister
  • Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde – Union Power Minister
  • Mr. Murli Deora – Union Petroleum Minister
EGoM not only had to decide on to the recommendations of committee but also on to freeing petroleum prices from government control, but because of absence of four minister’s it was delay until next meeting of EGoM which is suppose to be held on next week, as per Mr. Deora. Certainly price increase is delay for time being, but it is going to increase in coming days, and not only it will effect badly on to the budget of common people but also work as ghee in the fire, as public is crying for failure of government on increasing prices’ and with increase of diesel price every sector will feel the heat of increase in input cost, as main source (approximately more then sixty percent) of goods from one part of country to other part is done by Trucks and their source of energy is diesel. On one hand government is issuing statements in media that soon inflation will be control by government but the steps and action they are taking making mockery of their own announcements.
If Prices’ will increase in coming days, then it will hit only average common Indian, who earn on daily basis of their livelihood, and with increase of petroleum prices it will reduce the quantity and quality of foods from their plates, as political parties after agitation, bandh and strike for few days will look for another issue, to get political mileage, but it wont left much effect on government and if they increase prices of three to five rupees and considering the anger and agitation in the country, then will roll back one or two rupees and still successfully increase some prices’, certainly it will be in the domain of inflation. When news brook up of EGoM meeting on Petroleum Products recommendations of Kirit Parekh committee on Monday, opposition parties warn government to avoid price hike of petroleum products otherwise across country they agitate and pressurise them to roll back the price.
Before facing protest of opposition parties Government has to get nod from its allies also and in present scenario it looks very much unlikely that TMC and DMK accept the proposal, plus ministry of railway whose in charge is Mamta Benerjee wont give her nod as it will directly effect on her ministry’s operations, plus she is riding on the victory of civic polls in West Bengal and also eyeing next year’s assembly poll in West Bengal, so in next meeting of EGoM it will be interesting to see what will be outcome of meeting.
The way Government is making policies ,working certainly they are not public friendly, recently they get 6.7 Trillion rupees from the auction of 3G Spectrum license, if they need more money for their operation then they can on priority basis talk with Swiss authorities where as per rough estimates Indian have 1.4 trillion dollar, but if they keep on ignoring other ways of money to come in their coffer, and keep on making policies which are inflation friendly and anti public, then they are inviting public anger and opposition parties will eager to cash it by supporting and agitating, it is by no mean good for government.

P.S. : Today I am posting blog at 4.12 p.m., because the area I am residing, there was power cut from 8.00 a.m. in the morning until 4 p.m. and it was also without prior information.

Andimuthu Raja :( Controversy) Bell is Ringing

United Progressive Alliance(U.P.A.) get down for fifteenth Loksabha elections held last year, to seek second term , and people of this country not frustrated them, in fifteenth loksabha send 206 M.P. of Indian National Congress, which is main party of U.P.A., and to form government they were in need of further sixty six members, no doubt it was not clear mandate for any party/alliance but it was far more easy for Indian National Congress Party to form government with its allies, then from fourteenth loksabha when they had One hundred and forty one members and completed their full term in office. People were hoping for food governance by U.P.A. in its second term.
On 24th May, 2010 U.P.A. completed one year in office of their second term, but during first year in office of their five year term, their three cabinet ministers trap in controversies net and one resign, the three ministers whose name jumps are-
  • Mr. Shashi Tharoor – Minister of State for External Minister (Resign)
  • Mr. Sharad Pawar – Minister of Food and Agriculture
  • Mr. Andimuthu Raja – Telecommunication Minister
Last month Government was able to sell 3G spectrum at almost whopping 6.8 Trillion Rupees, but along with it Telecommunication minister name was also trap in the scam because of discrepancies in the allotment of 2G spectrum to some companies at throw away prices, resulting heavy lose to the government exchequer, plus during process of bidding of 2G spectrum lot of changes made, just to help his known companies to get license of 2G spectrum, by Andimuthu Raja and Telecommunication department.
     A. Raja become Telecommunication Minister on 18th May, 2010, because of pressure from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) supremo K. M. Kaurnanidhi and at that time bidding process was underway for 2G spectrum for different circles of India, with the completion of bidding process, voices’ raised for foul play and scam of multi Crores of Rupees during the allotments of 2G spectrum , thus case was handed over to C.B.I. Now Controller and Auditor General (CAG) has submitted its reports, relating to 2G spectrum, which is very shocking and surprising, and in its report CAG said that department of Telecommunication (DoT) violated the set norms of bidding process, to help handful of people and 2G spectrum norms and transparency violated, below is how the whole process goes -
  • First date was 1st October,2007 for applying, which was later on shifted to 25th September,2007, and because of shifting of date three hundred and forty three aspirants out of the race from bidding process from total five hundred and seventy five, then two hundred thirty two out from the process because of change of norms and left with only one hundred and twenty one bidders, department took decision on 2nd November,2007 to change the cut date of applying to 25th Septmeber,2007 and information was posted on department website on 10th Jan,208 at 1.30 p.m. , exactly two hours before the bidders called for auction, and to do the formalities they were given only two hours, which was not possible in such a short time, but information was already passed on to the bidders, whom A. Raja want to award 2G spectrum. As per information two companies earn huge money only by selling stocks, whom they get at far more less price one is Swan Telecom which get license for thirteen circles at 15.37 billion rupees but they sell forty five percent to Etisalate of U.A.E at 42 billion rupees, and second company who did the same was Unitech which get license for twenty two circles at 16.58 billion rupees but sold stocks of sixty percent to Norway’s Telenor at 61 billion rupees, as per C.B.I. reports they mentioned that government lose revenues worth 2.2 trillion rupees but leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mr. Arun Jaitley declared lose to government exchequer is worth six trillion rupees.
Now coming days are interesting to see how this story comes to an end? Whether Prime Minster take A. Raja’s resignation or let him free without any action, who is sitting on the pile of money by doing wrong action, thus become the reason of huge lose to government coffer.

Strike and Bandh: Two sides of a Coin

To go on strike or observe bandh, on both front its biggest loser is India, because economically it cost hugely to India, as per estimates, last month’s bandh call of opposition parties of one day, to protest against inflation, financial loss to some of major states were (all figures are in Indian Rupees) –
  • Jharkhand – 1.2 billion
  • Kerla – 900 million
  • Tripura – 900 million
  • Orissa – 1.2 billion
  • West Bengal – 4.96 billion
after the tragedy of Mangalore accident, two Unions of Air India by name  –
  • Air Corporation Employees Union
  • All India Air Craft Engineer Association
suddenly, went on two days strike, Delhi High Court while announcing its verdict, declared strike of these unions illegal, second hard decision came from Civil Aviation ministry-
  • End the recognition of both these corporations
  • Seal the offices’ of both the employees unions
  • Fifty eight employees suspended
  • Twenty four employees terminated
but in this process one hundred and thirty flights were cancelled, which left stranded scores of air passengers and their switch over in hurry to private airlines cost them three fold more prices of tickets, and strike cost to Air India loss of 100 million of revenues.
Both above coded examples show that Strike or Bandh its ultimate sufferer is Indian economy. During nineteenth century strike was mean to express protest, in every democracy without effecting public, they were given right to go on strike, but with changing time strike meaning also change and people enjoy strike as holiday, and bandh call by political parties or by religious communities or by organizations often forcibly shut down the private shops/business premises and if anybody oppose or ignore them, then there shops/business premises either looted or set ablaze or stone pelted, but political parties or Unions or organizations should understand that common people have not did anything wrong to them, instead they should come up with some innovative ideas to go on strike, so that at the time of agreement there should not be financial and working days loss. Below is example of strike in Japan by shoe factory workers in which they bend management to accept their demands but without lose of working hours or financial to the factory –
In a shoe factory of Japan employees were not happy and satisfied with their salaries and packages’ just to pressurise management they went on strike but with different style they were keep on working in the factory as usual but making only one foot shoe this way the product was manufacturing and stocks keep on piling but only one side which was wastage of material, power and worker productivity, when this process keep on continue for a week then management step ahead and talk to the employees and accepted there demands but at the same time asked who will bear useless production they produced, then workers leader respond it is not a loss and wastage but now worker will make other foot shoe, thus will make a pair which will complete and saleable in the market. Management impress and workers happy that their demand met and production was also not effected because of strike by workers so it was win win situation for everybody.
Number of days, in a year, which goes waste because of bandh in different parts of country is as per records West Bengal is top in the list and then follow by Tamilnadu and then by Gujarat. From Government side stringent law is required to tackle bandh and strike especially when they become reason of loss of property and forcibly shut the private shop keeper or business premises, it should be in law if they do violence on the day of strike or bandh then financial loss would have to be born by caller.

Indians with additional liabilities?

India is a sovereign country and it is world’s biggest democracy, its constitution which gives right to authorities to maintain law and order in the country, but despite power to our enforcement agencies, they get fingers towards them not of appreciation but of negligence, over sighting and exploiting common citizen of this country. Concerned department keep their eyes and ears closed towards exploitation of common people and not take immediate action towards culprits, which left common people orphan on the name of justice and stand lonely, helpless and frustrated as far justice is concern to them..
Government of India has enforcement agencies where ever it required like in food, drugs, law & order but unfortunately they give best services’ to handful of people of this country which are powerful either because of money or have political relations, others are left on to the mercy of God or on to their luck, its countless example are stored on the pages of print media and on an average once a week become highlights of electronics media, when it happen common people raise their voices’ to get justice and for some time media support them as common people not get justice easily and high profile people with strong relations make mockery of justice, if concerned are mentally and financially strong then they fight for justice until and unless they do not get it , well certainly it takes years and its example are Ruchika and Manu Sharma cases’, in both the cases’ their respective kin gets justice after long fight, which is not possible for average person of this country as they horrified to back off, life threatening incidence, muscles of government machinery and harassment. Indians are suppose to open their senses of vision and sound to get rid on the problems which comes in the domain of government agencies as their liabilities but boomerang to common people as additional responsibilities and make them half experts because of their interaction with agencies to get justice and they are –
  • Adulteration – In the market, across India, adulterated food items, essential items of Indian cuisine, are selling by traders, just to earn hefty money but by playing with the health and lives of innocent people and essential food items are pulses, vegetables, fruits, spices in other and simple words they left no items untouched, media is exposing it often and government machinery is watching it with close eyes and listening with deaf ears, and now in the end of the programme channels alerts the viewers that do purchase the eatable items with cautiously, otherwise it can be fatal for yourself.
  • Synthetic eatable items – How much a person can fall? Just to earn money by playing with the lives of anybody, which he also knows that he is passing in the market poison, In the country some traders are selling synthetic eatable products like Milk, Curd, Khoya, Cheese, Desi Ghee, Refined oil. Every items are produce by them are synthetic produce from chemicals and deadly low quality ingredients which are by no mean safe for human beings to consume, ironically they produce for human beings to use and whom we can call slow poison, as after using certain period of time body becomes victim of fatal diseases’ and ultimately end of life. Again warn to purchase items cautiously.
  • Spurious Drugs – As per reports in the country twenty five percent drugs sold are spurious, which contains no medicines but simply powder, and after taking it patients not recovered from the disease but drag his/her disease further to next levels, and seller of spurious medicines just copy wrapper of original medicine identical but inside tablets/capsules made of powder, thus left patient to suffer further. Needy asks to buy medicines from reliable and known shop so that they avoid from the clutches of corrupt mind.
  • Terrorism – From almost three decades now different parts of the country suffers from terrorism and more then ninety five percent victims of terrorism are innocent people, whether they lost their lives in the bomb blasts or terrorists shooting, and government advise common people through advertisements to be vigilant whenever they see any abandon stuff it can be terrorists trap, so here again common people have to be alert to avoid from becoming victim of terrorists.
  • Law and Order- Whenever in the country problem creates of law and order virtue of communal riots, curfew or any conflicts between two different community, then common people left alone and become target of exploitation, then no body hear his opinion but become first person in the list of problem.
  • Exploitation – It is the tragedy of average Indian that they are playing filed for every body, thugs with their innovative ideas often loot the common people by trapping them in the net of greedy and authorities often advise them to avoid particular category of people as they are cheater but unable to catch them and put them behind the bars.
  • Injustice – When in the court case of common people comes against some strong background of people, then to get justice it takes years if common people are financially and mentally tough otherwise they won’t get justice and its two recent examples are of Ruchika and Manu Sharma cases’, are worth mentioning.
So it shows that law is at its place but to get justice at any level Indian have to use their mind, eyes and intelligence to come as winner from the trap of corrupt mind and government often fails to provide them genuine and original service.

Anti Tobacco Day

Every year on 31st May, World observe Anti Tobacco day, but using tobacco by human beings in any form whether through cigarettes or directly (chewing), it the cause of diseases like Cancer of mouth, lungs, throat; heart diseases, even pregnant women who smoke, delivers 3 million handicap kids, tobacco is so much harmful in any form that celebrating one day is not enough and it will not prove desire results by hosting seminars on that day and delivering lectures by doctors, on to tobacco effects to present public in the seminars. To get result, if society is sincere then by some innovative movements, stringent law and heavy punishment on both categories of persons user and producers of tobacco products like steeply increase price by reshuffling tax slabs, heavy fine on to user and no doubt on the way it will have to face obstacles from tobacco lobby.
Indian Government on 2nd October, 2008 ban on smoking in public places like restaurants, Bus Stands, Railway Stations, Hospitals and if anybody found guilty violating the law then he/she will be charge with fine of two hundred rupees, but as per some intellectuals minimal fine is not enough to keep citizen away from smoking, below coded some measures can make anti tobacco campaign successful –
  • Cigarettes and Tobacco products should impose with heavy tax duty from present, to three to four fold more, so that prices of tobacco products increase sharply.
  • Children below the age of 18 should not allow to use tobacco products, if found guilty then they should be punish with heavy cash fine.
  • Punishment of using tobacco products in public places should be fine with minimum 5,000 rupees and also add provision of non bail able jail of some days.
  • Ban on the advertisement of tobacco products in print and electronics media.
  • Ban of selling tobacco products, around two kilometer radius of educational institutions.
  • Public figures especially cricketers and actors should use tobacco products with cautiously, especially when the camera’s eye are on, its example is that when IPL season III ,was under proceedings, then a picture publish of Shane Warn smoking, as for cricketers and bollywood stars people in India are crazy, so they should be beware while smoking.
Country like India, if a person becomes victim of disease, because of using tobacco, then cost of treatment is so much costly that it is not affordable by average Indian, as in India more then seventy five percent people are living without health insurance. To make awareness among user, effect on to body, then documentary or short film of ten minutes produce by heath ministry, and make it mandatory for electronics channels to air it throughout day minimum six times after the gap of four hours in a day, which should have victim of tobacco user as central character.

Scorching Heat

This year north India, is under intense heat wave even in the month of May, and mercury had touched 50 Degree Celsius in some parts, although from March onwards until June month period is of summer, but the way, this year summer season recording new levels then its really very horrifying feeling to think of June month and what will be summer season’s highest levels in the month of June this year? Increasing mercury accompany with power cuts and it effect on to the supply of water. Different experts have their different views somebody are blaming rising mercury because of global warming, somebody are blaming reducing number of rain forest area on the earth, somebody are blaming for human interference with nature, but as far Metrology department is concern it has come up with pleasing predictions for rain this year and declare that this year monsoon will be normal in country, which is a satisfying announcement for farmers, common people and government as last years lot of parts of country gets very less rainfall and government declared draught which resulted less yield of crops and ultimately people of country grind under inflation whose impact till date not over and government hoping for good monsoon this year so that good crops hit the market, it will help to control inflation, but the way till date, last five months of this year gone, with less rain which is also one of the reason of increasing mercury, people are still scared for less rain, and if we go through the stats of rain until the month of April then it prove they are little bit correct, perhaps we are going towards one more season with less rain –
  • Punjab – 0.4 millimeter – should had been 12.1 millimeter
  • Haryana – 0.2 millimeter – should had been 6.9 millimeter
  • Chandigarh – 3.7 millimeter – should had been 15 millimeter
and if we believe on the above figures then metrology department prediction of normal rainfall appears impossible and news is coming that some crops like cotton is badly effective by intense heat wave. Till date because of scorching heat wave one hundred and fifty persons lost their lives, which includes five army personals and civilian who lost their lives in other areas are two each in Amritsar and Pathankot areas and seventy five persons lost their lives in Andhra Pradesh. Temperature which recorded highest in some areas, in the month of May, are below coded –
  • Andhra Pradesh (Ramgundam) – 46 Degree Celsius
  • Amritsar – 47.6 Degree Celsius
  • Chandigarh – 40.4 Degree Celsius
  • Sriganga Nagar – 49.3 Degree Celsius
  • Shimla – 32.4 Degree Celsius
  • Srinagar – 26.8 Degree Celsius
Everybody are now looking towards sky for rain, hoping and wishing for good rainfall in coming days, otherwise last year’s draught had given very bad and bitter experience not only to Indians but its impact felt across India, because of less yield in every crops, till date prices of essential commodities are not in the control of government and they are buying time from public by giving them false hope after sometime that they will control the inflation soon and even recently prime minister declare that till the end of this year they will control inflation, but if we go through the chart of prices of essential commodities then they are going towards south direction, it appear that government has not plan B in case of less rainfall to relieve their countrymen as they will be sufferer, it mean that highest temperature by no mean good for country and less rainfall will add insult to injury, hopefully Metrology department predications will be right of normal monsoon in the country.
