National Voter Day

In the country to make public aware importance of any organisation / commission / constitutional body, during year one day declare and dedicate to that organisation / commission / constitutional body and celebrate across country by organising ceremonies in the capital and states so that it help and benefit citizens of the country and Government of India’s objective to aware countrymen achieved. Finance and Budget of Election Commission of India – The Secretariat of the Commission has an independent budget, which is finalised directly in consultation between the Commission and the Finance Ministry of the Union Government. The major expenditure on actual conduct of elections is borne by the concerned constituent units of the Union - States and Union Territories. Elections for the Parliament expenditure is borne entirely by the Union Government while for the elections being held only for the State Legislature, the expenditure is borne entirely by the concerned State. In case of simultaneous elections to the Parliament and State Legislature, the expenditure is shared equally between the Union and the State Governments.

Election Commission of India erected on 25^th January,1950 and to celebrate fundamental right of  democracy that is voting , last year it was decided to celebrate National Voter Day on the day of instalment of Election commission of India that is 25^th January. This year on 25^th January,2012 at Vighyan Bhawan, New Delhi Election Commission of India held ceremony to commemorate National Voter Day and it was attended by officials of Election Commission, distinguish guests and foreign representatives in big numbers, but as per information despite invitation to all the political parties, seats of all the political parties were almost void as political parties skip to attend the seminar, considering this during the course of ceremony their name plates were removed. While pointing towards political parties absence Commission Director General   Akshay Raut said perhaps it is due to assembly elections in five states, but he did not miss the opportunity to mention that election commission is getting full support of all the parties in holding free, fair and peaceful elections. In the function former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam distributed photo identity cards and badges to twenty new voters, and also awarded officials who were best in executing election duties. He later on pledge to vote without fear and greed and using their voting right by making distant from cast, creed and religion.

Being citizen of the democratic country it is the liabilities and responsibilities of every eligible voter of the country to take part in every level of elections with full fervor and enthusiasm and extend their hand by participating in the exercise of democracy by voting to the honest, sincere & hard working candidates / parties / alliances’ so that at the time of their stay in the office they work for the development and welfare of their respective constituencies.
