Motor Vehicle Act gets Amendment Nod

Motor Vehicle Act is going to have tough norms in the coming days as it is believe that in the next session of parliament Motor Vehicle Act can be present for amendments which are strict in nature as monetary fine will get many fold jumps in all the categories if driver of the vehicles violate traffic rules. Cabinet stamps its approval on to the amendments of Motor Vehicle Act, so once it comes into force then driving the vehicles on Indian roads will be more cautious. As per stats vehicles plying on Indian roads are merely one percent of the world but contrast of it India has very high percentage on road accidents chart which is ten percent of the world, as per words of Doctor Kamaljeet Soi who is founder of N.G.O. by name Safe Community and Vice President of Punjab State Road Safety Council that every day four hundred peoples die in India due to road accidents, so considering these horrifying stats tough traffic rules is need of the time in the country.
On 1st March,2012 Prime Minister of India Doctor Manmohan Singh presided the cabinet meeting which was held in New Delhi, gave its nod to amend the Motor Vehicle Act and have proposed increase monetary fine from its present status in almost all the categories like fine of rupees fifteen hundred on jumping the red lights; not only monetary fine if driver find guilty of intoxication but can also put behind bars for four years and also strip off from his license; will be offense to use mobile while driving and at the time of death in road accidents kin will get compensation four time higher from its present level, below is brief glimpse of cabinet proposal on to Motor Vehicle Act –
  •  Talking on cell phone while driving the vehicles fine of minimum Rupees five hundred to maximum of Rupees five thousand.
  •  Compensation of Rupees One lakh to the family of victim in case if he/she died in road accidents.
  •  License of driver can be cancel, can send to jail for term of four years along with fine of minimum of rupees two thousand to maximum of rupees ten thousand, if driver drive the vehicles after drinking.
  •  Without helmet driving two wheelers or driving without seat belt fine will be Rupees five hundred to maximum fifteen hundred.
  •  Jumping the red lights fine will be fifteen hundred Rupees.
  •  Driving the vehicles without Registration Certificate can cost the driver fine of Rupees twenty thousand and along with it one year jail term also.
  •  Driving the vehicles under any type of drugs fine will be five thousand rupees.
No doubt these tough proposals once comes into force across country then it will make driver to drive the vehicles with more cautious but at the same time it is responsibilities of the concerned government authorities that there should not be any flaw in implementing new terms of Motor Vehicle Act and by no mean any genuine driver wont be harass on the name of law as well guilty driver should not escape due to any reference, other wise it will prove more powers to the concern enforcement department to grind public unnecessarily.
