Mobile Companies & Stiff Competition

    Mobile service in the country is one of the most affordable and widely used but mobile companies are giving services to the customers in cut throat environment as prices are damn cheap and there profits are shrinking. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) recently has given few more tools to the customers to tide the service providers, like-
  • Mobile Number Portability(MNP)
  • Leverage of getting telemarketing
Country is divided into twenty two circles and scores of players are giving services to the customers in every circle through GSM, CDMA and WLL. As per the January 2011 data of Cellular Operators Association of India(COAI) total number of mobile customers are-

As per norms, service providers allowed to issue connection after completing all the formalities which includes identification, photo and documents, then from service providers there officials visit and verify the authenticity of provided documents and photo, but as per words of experts of this sector, often service providers oversight the set rules just to add maximum numbers of subscribers, and when it comes to limelight then it surprise and shocked everybody and expose the ground realities that how much they are living on shaky terms ? Below is example of one of the well known and top bracket cellular company but it issue’s twenty four connections on to one name –
  • Resident of Chandigarh came to know when representatives of company contact him and told him that under his name scores of connections issued. Then concerned person make contact with the company and asked them to provide him the details of connections issued under his names, after not getting satisfactory response he file complaints at city’s cyber crime cell and now matter is under investigation. While explaining there side of story, company’s nodal officer said yes they get information of irregularities in few cases but it was not company’s fault as it was happened at dealer level. Authority is investigating the issue.
Score of connection issues on same name without following the procedure, certainly company is also responsible for it because had it been strictly advised at its all level then it would have not happen as dealer also bound to go for asked norms set by TRAI, so for TRAI and company this case should be eye opener and now onwards at every level both make it mandatory that instructions are followed at the time of issuing a new connection other wise if anybody with wrong intention get connection, then he can create problem for country.
