Diabetes is one of the diseases which can be put in the category of silent killer as most of the infected patients of world are not aware of that they are victim of incurable disease diabetes; shocking and horrifying fact of this disease is that India is number one country of the world which have highest number of diabetic patients. India currently has the highest number of 50.8 million people suffering from diabetes, followed by China with 43.2 million and the US with 26.8 million. As per reports 58.7 million diabetes cases in India by 2010 - almost 7 per cent of its adult population.
Definition of Diabetes - Diabetes (diabetes mellitus) is classed as a metabolism disorder. Metabolism refers to the way our bodies use digested food for energy and growth. Most of what we eat is broken down into glucose. Glucose is a form of sugar in the blood - it is the principal source of fuel for our bodies. When our food is digested the glucose makes its way into our bloodstream. Our cells use the glucose for energy and growth. However, glucose cannot enter our cells without insulin being present - insulin makes it possible for our cells to take in the glucose. Insulin is a hormone that is produced by the pancreas. After eating, the pancreas automatically releases an adequate quantity of insulin to move the glucose present in our blood into the cells, and lowers the blood sugar level.
Reason Diabetes Occur - Much of what we eat is converted to glucose, also loosely called sugar. To use this sugar our body needs insulin. When there is lack of insulin, this sugar can not be utilized by the body and diabetes occurs.
Symptoms of diabetes - High blood sugar causes excess urination, excess thirst, difficulty in vision, increased chances of infections. Inability of body to use glucose causes excessive hunger, irritability, confusion, weakness, tiredness and weight loss that can be dangerous.
There are three main types of diabetes -
  • Diabetes Type 1 - You produce no insulin at all.
  • Diabetes Type 2 - You don't produce enough insulin, or your insulin is not working properly.
  • Gestational Diabetes - You develop diabetes just during your pregnancy.
Diabetes Types 1 & 2 is chronic medical conditions - this means that they are persistent and perpetual. Gestational Diabetes usually resolves itself after the birth of the child. All types of diabetes are treatable, but Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes last a lifetime; there is no known cure. The patient receives regular insulin, which became medically available in 1921. The treatment for a patient with Type 1 is mainly injected insulin, plus some dietary and exercise adherence. Patients with Type 2 are usually treated with tablets, exercise and a special diet, but sometimes insulin injections are also required.
The reasons of diabetes - Scientists till now have not found the activator of diabetes. They assume, that the genetic infringements or virus infection are the reason of diabetes. However during numerous researches some facts about this artful illness became known –
  • It is impossible to catch diabetes through blood.
  • There is a hereditary predisposition to diabetes. In case of illness of one of the parents the probability that at their children will be diabetes type 1, is equal 10 %, and diabetes type 2 - 80 %.
  • The excessive using in food sweet products does not cause diabetes, but causes increase of fats, which repeatedly raises risk to be ill.
  • It is believed our lifestyle and junk food also responsible of diabetes.
Diabetes Effects - The effects of diabetes on the body can be awful. They are usually caused due to high blood sugar levels in our blood. When the insulin in our body becomes ineffective, there is rise in the blood glucose level. They can directly harm your nervous system and blood circulation. In order to prevent the effects of diabetes on the body, we should consult our family doctor regularly. There are different ways to avoid these effects. We should regulate our eating habits, quit smoking and avoid alcohol consumption. Most people ignore the sugar intake by their body. It can be extremely harmful for a diabetic. Drinking enough water can save you from this disorder. You should drink at least 10-12 glasses of water regularly.
Diabetes is a deadly disease and it's spreading at a very fast rate. They are also genetic problems that can be carried through generations. Mostly people with a bad eating habit suffer from this disease. Diabetic retinopathy is the most terrible effects of diabetes on the body that can lead to blindness. There are very small vessels in our retina and when these vessels get damaged, people suffer from a blurred vision. The appearance of cobwebs and black spots can annoy us. You can also lose the vision of one of your eyes suddenly. If you see these symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor.
Managing Diabetes -Once your diabetes has been diagnosed you will work as a team with your health care provider and nurses and, if one is available, a dietitian. The goal of managing your diabetes is to keep your blood sugars close to the blood sugar levels of people who do not have diabetes. The more normal your blood sugar, the less likely you will be to develop the complications of diabetes. Management is a balance. The key factors are diet, physical activity and, if necessary, medication. The goal of diabetes management is to keep your blood sugar and hemoglobin A 1c in the recommended ranges. Patient can do this through-
  •  Diet

  • Medications, if necessary
As per medical terms diabetes is not curable and patient has to take medicines and precaution of eatable food stuff lifelong but I know a person who is my friend and in the past was victim of diabetes but he get rid his diabetes by doing physical and breathing exercise, now he has no more diabetes from last eight years and leading happy life without taking any medicine whom doctors declared incurable disease, don’t know if is authentic medically but I have seen myself patient recover from Diabetes.
