Shoes to Slap

From past few years anger among peoples towards politicians become physical and they try to express it in the presence of security personnel’s and media, not scared about their daring actions results. It has seen that on score of occasion it is said that mental condition of the concern is not sound, but at the same time it is the matter of thorough study why peoples are so much furious against the politicians and they are ready to express their anger in violent manner? Now it has advance from material throwing to physical involvement.
First time in the history of aggressiveness and anger incident happened when former President of USA George Bush was in Iraq in the month of December 2008 and talking to media persons in a press conference, then during press conference Iraqi television journalist Muntadar al –Zaidi throw his shoes two times but George Bush bend and escape to get hurt himself from sudden development, then security personnel’s arrested him and later on Muntadar al-Zaidi face the trail, but incident motivate score of persons across the globe to express their anger towards politicians, hence later on phase started of throwing shoes or chappals at politicians, and India is not exception in this case.
Politicians were targeted by Indians with shoes or chappals on different occasion. List of such politicians are as below –
  • P Chidambaram – On 7th April, 2009 journalist of dainik Jagran Jarnail Singh, throw the shoe at P Chidambaram when minister refuse to discuss involvement of Jagdish Tytler in 1984 anti Sikh riot cases.
  • LK Advani – On 17th April, 2009 BJP worker throw his slipper at senior party leader LK Advani in Madhya Pardesh but missed the target.
  • Manmohan Singh – 26th April,2009 was day when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was targeted with shoe during election campaign at Ahmedabad by 21 year old computer engineer student Hitesh Chauhan, but it was not reached near to Manmohan Singh.
  • BS Yeddyurappa – On 28th April, 2009 then CM of Karnataka BS Yeddyurappa was targeted with slipper at a BJP rally but slipper fell far short of dais.
  • Omar Abdullah – On 15th August,2010 was targated with shoe by suspended police constable, during independence celebrations in Srinagar.
  • Baba Ramdev –  On 24th March, 2011, Mitu Singh Rathod throw boot at Baba Ramdev who was CRPF troop and was angry because of corruption speech instead of yoga demonstration.
  • Suresh Kalmadi – On 26th April,2011 Manoj Sharma, former lawyer from Madhya Pardesh throw slipper at Suresh Kalmadi inside Patiala house court.
  • Janardan Dwidedi- On 6th June,2011 disguise himself as a journalist throw shoe at Janardan Dwidedi during press conference at the party head quarters.
but recently it has seen that in India anger of public has risen to new label towards politicians as from throwing shoe or chappal they are now using themselves to attack on politicians. By name Harvinder Singh of thirties from Rohini area of New Delhi assault on former Telecom Minister Sukhram, now day before yesterday he slap Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and after slapping he was shouting,“ I will kill you, every where there is corruption in India, scams,”. After incident Pawar left the place in his car, but security personnel’s arrested Harvinder Singh. Leader of all the parties condemn the attack and declare if anybody in the country is not happy with the way of government policies then there is certain ways to object but physical attack is not acceptable on politicians, and public has power of vote to defeat the leader whom they don’t like in the elections. No doubt every political party of the country has crirticise action of Harvinder Singh, but if we pick the words of Harvinder Singh then he was shouting after slapping that every where there is scams, you are corrupted, so his action is against corruption and scams not against any party or leader but in recent times as score of leaders are trapped in the cases of corruption, so it should we consider as his anger against government’s failure to tackle both the issues’ of corruption and scams, moreover it can also be added with statement of opposition party’s leader Yashwant Sinha who said that peoples are furious against failure of government on price rise and it wont be surprise if it burst or become violent, plus from last three days parliament session is on but shockingly single minute of work was not happened due to adjournment of parliament, so peoples are seeing all this, thus it can be one of the reason of provocation.
It is the responsibility of the politicians and political parties to serve the country and public honestly and simply blaming others is just running from their liabilities as every profession seeks justification towards their profession, other wise as now peoples anger enters into new label which is certainly cannot good for country and can take ugly shape in future if our rules keep on ignoring the problems face by common people of the country.
