Countrywide Strike by Transporter

Yesterday six million trucks in India comes to halt when Transporter’s third time dialogue with Center Government failed and lot of states truck operator goes on indefinite strike and it is supported by Countries more then 4000 Associations resultant as per information revenue loss of 28 thousand crores of rupees from very first day of strike. Other then Cement, Chemical, food, Steel, household FMCG products supply of stuff like fruits and Vegetables were also effected which inspite of fact having very small period of freshness and need to use immediately, its reported that almost 75% of supply was effected and from today tanker which supply Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG), Petroleum Gas will also join the strike .To make it possible uninterrupted supply of necessity goods Government threat to cancel the license of Transporter. President of all India Motor transport Charan Singh Lohara declared that there strike will continue unless Government not accepted there demands and there main demands are:-
• Price of diesel reduce 10 rupees per liter.
• Price of tyers reduce 35 percent.
• Should allow to import tyres.
• Service Tax imposed on truck operator 3.09 percent should be abolish.
• Annual National Permit fees should be 3,500 rupees from 5,000 Rupees.
• Considering the Global Economical recession collection of Toll Tax on Highway should be stop for six months.
Impact of this Transporter strike seen in Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tamilnadu and other states there was totally stoppage of Trucks movement, barring truck operator from Bihar as Bihar Transport Association said this strike will effect development in the state they deny to join this strike. President of Transporter Motor Association Lohara said they haven’t received any invitation from the Government for dialogue and said if called again Government has to accept there demands. On the other hand Lohara held meeting with his association office bearer to make there future strategy. It’s believe with the Transporter strike prices’ of vegetables, fruits and other necessity food items will increase because with the strike there supply is no more in existence. Lohara claims if Strike will continues for coming four to five days inflation will increase and Government will also get loss of 50,000 Crores of rupees as revenue.
Under the leadership of Punjab State Truck Operator Union State President who is resident of Hoshiarpur Tarlochan Singh states’ almost two and half lakh truck operators stop plying trucks and join indefinite strike. Although gives relaxation of 72 hours from the supply of necessity goods. To make this strike successful President of Punjab from last week on tour of Punjab different districts and keeps on inspiring truck operator and truck union. Last night in Mohali he prepared modality of this strike after having meeting with hundred of truck operator from Ropar, Fathegarh Sahib, Mohali and Patiala.From Shambu barrier tarlochan Singh said state union almost four dozens official and members are at Shambhu barrier and states’ other border also seal by them, he said we have support of oil tanker operator, private bus operator and if government not accept there demands these operator will also join the strike.
