Election & Government Policies

In the country at every level barring few, elections held after every five years, and its quite common complaints of voters that during the first four years of elected candidates irrespective of parties or alliance neither they were accessible to general public easily nor their work often public friendly, but once they enters in the last year of their term /governance then not only start making claims through electronics and print media at the cost of tax payers money but also announce populist schemes to woo voters, shun to take harsh decision, put on halt & drag inflationary moves so that it may not effect on to the result of elections. As India is going through the election process in five states of the country, not only Central Government but also concerned state hold anti public policies which can boil public and become anti incumbency factor, so it may be one of the reasons that voters turnout in the elections not touch 95 percent plus despite on election day declare public holiday and poling booths erects at walking distance.
Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Utter Pradesh & UttraKhand states assembly elections process will complete on 6th March,2012 and voting in Punjab state was held on 30th January,2012 and below coded facility public gets due to elections-
  • State was under severe shortage of electricity not only during summer season from quite few years now but also in the winter season, last year state residents get uninterrupted power supply from State Electricity Power Corporation during peak of summer season, yes there were few power failures but that was due to maintance or technical problem, so thanks to elections year last year was one of the best year as far electricity supply to the state residents were concern.
As voting held in the state on 30th January, 2012 and after passing time of merely one week, news of Sate Electricity Corporation proposed to State Regulatory Commission to revise the prices’ of domestic and commercial consumers becomes headlines, and as per reports there is proposal of sharp increase of price revisions, but till date State Regulatory Commission’s views are not available, so consumers of both categories commercial and domestic should ready to feel the heat in the summer season not only from weather but also from State Electricity Corporation.
Due to elections in five states Central Government delay to implements price revision in below coded essential items of public, so that it may not become issue for opposition parties to woo voters –
  • Petroleum Companies of public domain were vocal that they are bearing loss on to the sale of every liter of petrol that was sold in the country, hence price of petrol needs to increase immediately, despite petrol is out from government price control mechanism, but petroleum companies put on hold until the state assemblies election process in underway, and as per speculations once it will completed then price of petrol will dearer in the country.
  •  Government has made mind to give consumers LPG Cylinders six to seven numbers at subsidies rates and for rest of their requirements they have to purchase at its actual cost in a year time, and if everything will go as per schedule then it can be start from April, 2012 onwards. No doubt it will make public angry as it will hit badly on to their budget and opposition parities will get issue to be vocal but thankfully after five states assembly elections until next seven to eight months time there is no elections and government is free to grind public with its policies.
So for interest of public in election process and continue pressure on to government, elections should keep on held in the country in different states after every five to six months period or public should empower with instruments of Right to Call or Right to Reject of their respective elected representatives.
